Introduction
The working principle of a tricone bit is to cut materials such as rock or concrete into the required dimensions through three rotating cutting teeth. During operation, the tricone bit first transmits energy to the cutting teeth through a high-speed rotating spindle, causing the material on the cutting teeth to melt and rub, ultimately cutting it into the required size. Due to the continuous movement of the cutting teeth, a three cone drill bit can drill deeply and accurately control the size and depth of the drilling.
Operational principle
1) The speed of the drill bit is the speed of the rotary table or downhole power drilling tool. When the drill bit rotates, the cone also rotates around the axis of the drill bit. The linear velocity of each row of teeth on the cone rotating around the axis of the drill bit is different, and the linear velocity of the outer row of teeth is the highest.
2) The rotation of the drill bit is called rotation when the cone rotates counterclockwise around the tooth palm axis. The rotational speed of the cone is determined by the rotational speed of the drill bit and is related to the influence of the teeth on the bottom of the well.
3) The longitudinal vibration (axial vibration) of the drill bit impacts and changes the position of the breaking wheel center, causing the drill bit to reciprocate up and down along the axial direction. This is the longitudinal vibration of the drill bit, which is related to the structural parameters of the drill bit such as tooth height, tooth pitch, and lithology. The amplitude of soft formations is small, while that of hard formations is large. The vibration frequency is proportional to the number of teeth and cone speed.
4) The sliding shear fracture effect of a drill bit requires different types of rock to be broken, which is determined by the structural parameters of the drill bit. In soft formations, the slip of the drill bit is relatively large, while in hard formations, it should be as small or non slip as possible.
